Andre is our Jim’s Building Inspector for Rodney and the surrounding areas. Before joining Jim’s, Andre worked at a mulidisciplinary consulting firm, having completed studies in Civil Engineering. He worked in the Department of Transport and Windhoek City Council where he was involved with contract management for new township developments for 12 years up until 2002.  From September 2002, Andre owned a Top 10 Holiday Park for 12 years. He developed the park into the first Qualmark 4 (2006/2007) star plus park in the lower North Island 9 (South of Taupo).

When developing the holiday park, Andre’s initial focus was maintaining all of the initial buildings, then designing and building self-contained units (These units received a Qualmark 5 star grading). At the same time a cabin was moved and relocated up the hill for excellent views and totally renovated to include a large deck area. For many years Andre continued to build his holiday park business, whilst always renovating and maintaining different aspects of the park

As a hands on person, Andre is always looking for  new projects to keep himself busy, which lead to the renovation of an additional holiday park in Pakiri in 2015 which took 2.5 years. Andre loved the holiday park business, especially the development and upgrading projects.

Andre is a true family man, married 28 years to his wife. Together they share a daughter (21) who lives in Hamilton and a son (20) who is an air force candidate. It was fair to say that with his kids away from home, Andre was feeling the empty nest syndrome, and was eager for his next project – Jim’s Building Inspections. With many years experience in the construction industry, Andre felt a desire to “go a back to his building and construction roots” which lead him to becoming a Jim’s Building Inspector.

Andre services most of the Rodney area from Albany to Orewa. His Civil Engineering knowledge, experience with renovating old buildings, construction and general handy man skills make Andre the perfect person to inspect your home. He believes a house with defects is not a no-go zone for some people, it is all about knowing what you are buying without costly surprises, and having a good solid reason to negotiate on price.  For other people, houses should not come with too many defects, as they do not want to spend the money or the time renovating – they want a well-constructed, easy to maintain, stress free home. A building inspection puts all buyers in the best position when it comes to purchasing property.

For house vendors and agents, having a building inspection upfront before the house goes onto the market, indicates to a buyer that the vendor is willing to declare the condition of the house, and isn’t trying to mask hidden defects (which the seller could also been unaware of.) A building inspection also provides vendors with the opportunity to repair or replace items noted by the building inspector, ensuring that they can  sell with confidence.
